GAC Group scores 24.49% growth in first-half sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group said its new vehicle sales amounted to 1,026,505 units for the first half of 2021, jumping 24.49% year on year. During the same period, the group output 1,001,446 vehicles, representing a 25.61% growth.

Most subsidiaries achieved increase in the Jan.-Jun. period. GAC Aion was the fastest-growing one. GAC FCA was the only one that encountered decline.

However, GAC Group saw its monthly sales drop 11.01% year over year, for the first time facing decrease so far this year.

GAC Honda scored a 16.68% growth in year-to-date sales, while its sales tumbled 35.47% over the previous year last month mainly due to the semiconductor shortage.

GAC Aion, GAC Group's wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to new energy vehicles (NEVs), scored a 112.03% robust growth in Jan.-Jun. sales and a 103.75% surge in June sales. The full-sized all-electric SUV it co-develops with Huawei will go into volume production at the end of 2023.

GAC Motor, GAC's self-owned PV subsidiary, recorded double-digit growth in both June sales and year-to-date sales. Notably, it was the 12th month in a row for GAC Motor to attain growth.

GAC Group sold a total of 51,548 NEVs (+84.9% YoY) during the first six months, 9,810 units (+75.2% YoY) of which were sold in June.

In terms of semi-annual sales, the top five models were the Levin series (132,223 units, +40.3% YoY), the Camry series (91,110 units, +13.4% YoY), the Vezel (90,418 units, +50.4% YoY), the Accord series (89,129 units, +9.4% YoY), and the Breeze series (83,793 units, +31.4% YoY).
