SAIC Motor’s R Auto about to tap into European market
Shanghai (ZXZC)- R Auto, a premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co.,Ltd. (SAIC Motor PV), is about to tap into European markets, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Norway, according to a local media outlet.

The first vehicle to be exported is the MARVEL R. Hitting the market on Feb. 7 this year, it is the second model and also the first SUV model under R Auto, priced between 219,800 yuan ($34,140) and 239,800 yuan ($37,245) after subsidies.
Overseas business is playing an important role in SAIC Motor PV's operations. For the first four months of 2021, the PV manufacturer sold over 87,000 new vehicles outside China, representing a year-on-year surge of 118%.
For the year of 2020, SAIC Motor PV's export volume surpassed 230,000 units, leaping 67% from a year ago.
With respect to oil-fueled vehicles, the company's vehicles all ranked high in the corresponding segments of Australia, Chile, and Egypt last year. To be specific, the export volumes of the MG ZS, the MG HS, and the MG 5 amounted to 62,000 units, 26,000 units, and 30,000 units respectively.
Regarding NEVs, by the end of 2020, the overseas sales of the MG EZS totaled 39,000 units, of which 25,000 units were sold in 2020. In addition, SAIC Motor PV announced in early December 2020 the launch of the MG EZS into Europe.
Moreover, SAIC Motor PV has to-day set up two innovation hubs, two car manufacturing plants, and three design centers outside China.
