Changan Automobile records 26.78% year-on-year growth in Apr. 2021 sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chongqing Changan Automobile Co.,Ltd. (Changan Automobile) announced on Friday its Jan.-Apr. new vehicle sales surged 82.32% from the previous year to 843,342 units. In April, the automaker sold 202,280 vehicles, posting a year-on-year growth of 26.78%.

With respect to the production performance, Changan Automobile saw its April outputs jump 21.97% over a year earlier to 204,363 units, resulting in a production volume of 796,546 units for the first four months.

Three self-owned subsidiaries of Changan Automobile, namely Chongqing Changan, Hebei Changan and Hefei Changan, all maintained upward impetus in terms of Apr. sales. With a year-on-year increase of 80.54%, Chongqing Changan was the fastest-growing one. Notably, Hefei Changan logged a growth of 8.92%, versus 85.74% in its Mar. sales.

Both Changan Ford and Changan Mazda recorded decrease in Apr. sales, terminating a year-long rising momentum.

At the Auto Shanghai 2021, Changan Automobile launched the second-generation CS55 PLUS. The all-new version will be sold via the same marketing channels as that of the existing CS55 PLUS.

In the meantime, the automaker announced it plans to pour up to 150 billion yuan ($23.216 billion) into the promotion of low carbon mobility, the building of a top talent pool, and the development of software, intelligence technologies and new business models during the 14th five-year plan period (2021-2025).

Regarding the product planning, Changan Automobile aims to build three car platforms—EPA0, EPA1, and EPA2—based on the Ark and the CHN architectures, and roll out 26 all-new intelligent electric vehicle models over the next five years.
