GAC Group gains YoY growth in outputs, sales for ten straight months
Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group said its new vehicle wholesales reached 187,096 units in April 2021, rising 12.5% from the previous year, while also jumping 19.4% compared to the same period in 2019. For the first four months, the group sold 683,656 vehicles, a year-on-year surge of 44.7%.
Production performance also represented climbing momentum in April. GAC Group output 193,478 vehicles last month, which were 8% more than that of the year-ago period. Year-to-date production volume amounted to 672,131 units, zooming up 51.4% from a year earlier, while rising 5.2% compared to April 2019.
As of April 2021, GAC Group had posted year-on-year growth in both monthly outputs and sales for the tenth month in a row.
The group sold a total of 31,464 new energy vehicles (NEVs) through April, a year-over-year hike of 97.7%. Of those, 9,888 units were sold last month, showing a growth of 87.2% over a year earlier.

The BEV-focused subsidiary GAC Aion scored a remarkable rise of 110.4% in April by selling 8,309 vehicles. The sales of the Aion Y reached 2,000 units after the model hit the market at the Auto Shanghai 2021 on April 19.
Moreover, GAC Group also announced a sales volume of 76,029 energy-saving vehicles (+96.9% YoY) for the Jan.-Apr. period, of which 25,933 units (+31.2% YoY) were sold last month.
The group launched at the Auto Shanghai the “GLASS” plan, which embodies GAC's green energy principles and is also in tune with the national plan that focuses on reducing emissions and shifting towards greener energy sources.
As part of efforts to achieve the transition to electrification, GAC Group will strive to make NEVs and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) each account for 20% of its total sales by 2025. By 2035, it will endeavor to produce and sell 5 million vehicles, 50% of which will be NEVs.

Except GAC Honda and GAC FCA, the other subsidiaries all attained year-on-year increase in April sales. GAC Toyota was honored the champion by April sales volume, while also achieved a double-digit growth.
With a sales volume of 24,621 units, the Accord series was the best-selling model last month. Besides, the sales of the Levin series amounted to 20,770 units.
