Geely Auto March sales jump 37% year on year

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (called “Geely Auto” for short) and its subsidiaries sold a total of 100,029 new vehicles in March, representing a growth of 37% from the previous year and an increase of 30% from the previous month, the company announced on April 7.

Of the vehicles sold last month, 5,657 units were new energy and electrified vehicles (NEEVs), including the Geometry As, the Geometry Cs, the Emgrand EVs and the Emgrand GSes.

In March, the group (referring to Geely Auto and its subsidiaries) saw its domestic sales leap around 29% year over year to 89,965 units, while the export volume rose over twofold to 10,064 units.

The sales of Geely-branded sedans, SUVs and MPVs amounted to 40,001 units, 58,112 units and 1,916 units respectively last month. Notably, the Geely Preface sedan recorded a sales volume of 14,356 units, a precipitous growth of 97% compared to February.

Lynk & Co brand's sales in March stood at 16,390 units, zooming up 122% from the year-ago period.

For the first quarter of 2021, the group saw its total sales leap roughly 62% over a year earlier to 333,576 units, achieving 22% of its full-year sales target of 1.53 million units for 2021.

In 2021, a year crucial to Geely Auto's technology transition, the automaker plans to roll out a host of new models. For instance, the all-new SUV Emgrand S will hit the market on April 26, and the new-generation Emgrand sedan is scheduled to be released in the second half of the year. The Vision X3 PRO is to be launched this month as well. Additionally, the Lynk & Co 02 Hatchback will make its debut at the Auto China 2021 and is set to go on sale in June.
