Changan Automobile records 111.56% hike in Q1 2021 sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) announced its sales for the first quarter of 2021 (Q1) soared 111.56% over a year earlier to 641,062 units.

According to the monthly sales data the company released via its WeChat account, the year-to-date sales of the vehicles under Changan Automobile's indigenous brands reached 522,574 units, of which 368,215 units were passenger vehicles (PVs).

The robust growth in Q1 sales was thanks to the three consecutive months of year-on-year sales increase. Last month, the company saw its sales leap 62.02% from the previous year to 226,374 units. During the same period, its self-owned brands sold 182,349 new vehicles (+60.2% YoY), including 110,897 PVs (+54.5% YoY).

All subsidiaries recorded year-over-year increase of over 45% in March sales. Among them, Changan Ford was the fastest-growing one with a growth rate of up to 112.1%. Chongqing Changan topped the others in terms of monthly sales volume.

As for performances of specific models in March, the CS75 SUV was honored the best-selling one with a sales volume of 31,461 units. The sales of the other two main SUVs, namely the CS55 and the CS35, amounted to 10,762 units and 8,145 units. Moreover, Changan Automobile also sold 16,124 Eado sedans and 7,050 UNI-T SUVs.

The Changan UNI-K, the second mass-produced model of Changan's premium car sequence “UNI” (called “Yinli” in Chinese, meaning “Gravity” in English), hit the market on March 28. Coming with four variants, the new model is priced from 153,900 yuan ($23,530) to 184,900 yuan ($28,270). Changan Automobile said it received 9,108 UNI-K orders in March.

What's more, there were 11,406 vehicles from Changan's indigenous brands sold to overseas markets last month.
