WEY said to roll out ‘Coffee’-powered SUV dubbed ‘Latte”

Shanghai (ZXZC)- WEY, the premium SUV brand of Great Wall Motor, plans to launch a fire new SUV model based on the “Coffee Intelligence” platform and positioned below the Mocha, the first “Coffee”-powered model, according to a local media outlet.

The new SUV, which is likely to be named “Latte”, is expected for launch in June and for presale at the Chengdu Motor Show 2021, according to the local report.

According to the patent images from the website of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the yet-to-be-launched model adopts a hauberk-styled hexagonal grille flanked by slender headlights on both sides. The front fascia decorated with chrome-plated trims renders more sense of sports.

The rear features a rather concise design with a chrome bar connecting taillights. The Latte measures 4,668 mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,730mm tall, and its wheelbase spans 2,745mm, according to the MIIT's data.

Under the hood, the new model would be powered by a 157kW 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine code-named E20N that uses Miller cycle to deliver a thermal efficiency of over 38%. The engine may be mated to a 9-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

Great Wall Motor unveiled last month the photos of another “Coffee”-based model named “Macchiato”. The SUV will be equipped with the “L.E.M.O.N” hybrid DHT system. Four connected displays, including a dashboard, an AR-HUD, a 14.6-inch floating console-mounted display and a touchscreen, are designed to offer drivers smarter and more convenient driving experience.
