The startup said it has formed a nationwide network for used car businesses, providing such services as vehicle inspection, evaluation, acquisition and sales. NIO sells pre-owned cars at highly competitive non-negotiable prices, and offers efficient evaluation and quote services to ensure convenient and fast transactions.

As part of efforts for strict quality control, all used cars from NIO Certified have passed 286 tests designed for new energy vehicles (NEVs), coming with transparent and traceable vehicle information. Using NIO's battery swapping model, a healthy battery sharing mechanism will be ensured to dispel users' misgivings in battery degradation, said the company.

According to NIO, with the 100kWh battery pack offered as an option, the penetration of BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) has reached over 40% among new orders in December 2020.

Meanwhile, NIO Certified affords users with hassle-free 7-day returns and such freebies as extended warranty from the OEM for one year or 30,000 kilometers, 7kW home charging piles, lifetime roadside assistance, lifetime Internet of Vehicles (IoVs) and BaaS.

NIO noted the resale values of its vehicles are somewhat higher than comparable oil-fuel vehicles. Over the next five years, the company plans to plow 3 billion yuan ($462.6 million) in the development of NIO Certified.
