Shanghai launches 20 battery swapping stations by Nov. 2020
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Shanghai has built roughly 385,000 units of EV charging and battery swapping facilities by the end of November 2020, including 62,000 charging piles for public services and 43,000 dedicated piles, said Wang Dajun, Deputy Director of Science, Technology & Information Division, Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission.

Besides, there have been 20 battery swapping stations in Shanghai, and the ratio of electric vehicles (EVs) to charging piles is 0.8:1, according to the speech Wang delivered at the China International Swapping Battery Mode Industry Forum 2020 on Dec. 23.
According to the national strategic deployment, Shanghai is hammering out a new implementation plan on the development of new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, Wang added. NEVs are expected to be basically popularized across the fields like bus, taxi, logistics distribution in downtown areas, postal service and governmental car in 2025. Meanwhile, 80% of sanitation vehicles will be NEVs, and NEVs will account for over 50% of the new private car sales.
To fulfill the aforementioned goal, Shanghai is quickening the deployment of EV charging and battery swapping facilities, striving to newly launch 300,000 units of such facilities by 2025, said Wang.
Wang noted Shanghai adheres to the combination of the initiative role of the market and the guidance and promotion by the government in the deployment of charging and battery swapping equipment. It has drawn up technical standards for the facility construction and a slew of policies in boosting the development and connectivity of those facilities.
