During the Jan.-Jun. period, there were 431,000 imported vehicles delivered in China, a 23.5% decrease over a year ago. In June, around 89,000 consumers in the country took delivery of imported vehicles, tumbling 28.8% from the previous year. The steeper downturn was primarily attributable to the higher year-ago base number, said Sinomach Automobile Co.,Ltd.

For the first six months, China's retail sales of imported PVs totaled 431,493 units (-23.5%), including 174,592 cars, 239,227 SUVs and 17,674 MPVs, which dipped 23.3%, 23.8% and 19.8% over the year-ago period respectively.

For the month of June, the deliveries of imported PVs slid 28.8% year over year to 88,508 units. Specifically, cars and SUVs accounted for 40.5% and 55% of total deliveries, posting year-over-year decline of 24.5% and 32.2%.

In terms of the first-half deliveries, the first three places were still occupied by Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, retailing 96,784 units, 69,647 units and 66,734 units respectively. Among the top 10 brands, the champion Lexus is the sole brand that achieved a slight growth compared to the prior-year period. The occupants of the fourth to tenth places were Porsche (39,268 units), Toyota (36,959 units), Audi (20,012 units), Jaguar (15,068 units), MINI (13,921 units), Lincoln (12,730 units) and Volkswagen (11,817 units).

With regard to the brands’ June deliveries, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz were honored the champion and runner-up, and they were also the only two boasting year-on-year growth among the top 10.
