Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely ICON, Geely Auto's second BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture)-based SUV, will officially hit the market on Feb. 24 through a live-streaming platform, the automaker announced via its WeChat account. Offered in four variants in total, the ICON is priced between RMB115,800 and RMB128,800.

The new model was supposed to go on sale on the Valentine's Day at the Tennis court in Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, while the ceremony had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Geely Auto announced then it would launch the full digital services to ICON’s buyers, including digital showroom, 360°AR-enabled vehicle appreciation, door-to-door test drive & car delivery and remote operation of auto insurance, mortgage, vehicle purchase tax and license plate.

It's noteworthy that the entire model series will come standard with the automotive-grade “CN95” air-conditioning filter that can effectively absorb harmful gases and filter out irritating odor and harmful pollutants once they are detected by the automatic system. Meanwhile, users who have picked up the limited-run “Milky Way” SUVs will enjoy the part upgrade as well.

In early Feb., Geely Auto said all of its future vehicles would be equipped with Geely's G-Clean Intelligent Air Purification System (IAPS), a new system that is able to automatically filter out harmful particulates from the vehicles internal air environment.

Aside from the foregoing function, the IAPS is also equipped with a negative ion generator that is able to sterilize and deodorize in vehicle pollutants and aim to remove in airborne viruses, bacteria, fungi, and molds, etc, achieving the same level of air filter as an N95 respiration system.

It sounds like Geely intends to put masks on vehicles. The R&D is carried out under the Geely Healthy Car program, in which Geely would move to invest RMB 370 million.

A significant breakthrough under the project was announced on Feb. 17. Geely said the industry's first “CN95” air-conditioning filter, the automotive-grade filter that meets the protection standard equivalent to N95 surgical mask, has been developed and put into mass production.

Geely has put forth substantial efforts to combat the coronavirus epidemic. On Jan. 28, Geely Holding claimed that it would closely cooperate with the Li Shufu Public Welfare Foundation to establish a special RMB200 million fund to support the prevention and control of the Coronavirus epidemic in Hubei, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Henan provinces, as well as other areas around the China that are experiencing coronavirus outbreaks.
