Geely Auto's new vehicle sales total 111,838 units in Jan.,market share hits new high
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (Geely Auto) announced it vehicle sales (including the volume of Lynk & Co brand) totaled 111,838 units in Jan. 2020, a year-on-year decrease of 29% and a month-on-month drop of 14%.
Of those, the sales of new energy of electrified vehicles (NEEVs) amounted to 4,762 units. The respective sales of the Boyue, the Emgrand, the Emgrand GS and the Binyue all exceeded 10,000 units.
Besides, the automaker also exported 2,265 vehicles last month, a plunge of 68% over the year-ago period.
In the first month of 2020, Geely Auto completed 8% of its 1.41 million-unit annual sales target.
Although the sales were affected by the Lunar New Year holiday and the new coronavirus outbreak, Geely Auto showed sufficient tolerance to the pressure, said the company. Auto dealers still achieved apparent growth in deliveries, making Geely’s market share hit a new high level.
Among new vehicles sold last month, 68,765 units and 41,901 units were SUVs and cars respectively. In addition, there were 1,172 MPVs sold during the same period.

Lynk & Co saw its Jan. sales volume amount to 9,008 units. As of Jan. 2020, the premium car brand has put roughly 257,000 vehicles onto the market. In the second half of the year, Lynk & Co will formally step into European market, according to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding).

Proton, the Malaysia's national carmaker backed by Geely Holding, witnessed its sales volume jump 20.2% to 8,506 units, the best Jan. sales for the recent four years. Moreover, the brand had its local market share increased to 19.5% from 4.9% in the year-ago period. It is worth mentioning that the sales of Proton were seperately reported by Geely Holding and were not included the sales of Geely Auto.
Geely has put forth substantial efforts to combat the coronavirus epidemic. On Jan. 28, Geely Holding claimed that it would closely cooperate with the Li Shufu Public Welfare Foundation to establish a special RMB200 million fund to support the prevention and control of the Coronavirus epidemic in Hubei, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Henan provinces, as well as other areas around the China that are experiencing coronavirus outbreaks.
Moreover, the company donated to some infected regions 158 Jiaji MPVs, which have carried the new IAPS (Intelligent Air Purification System), a new system that is able to automatically filter out harmful particulates from the vehicles internal air environment.
Under the Geely Healthy Car program, Geely Auto will move to invest 370 million RMB into the development of healthier vehicles.
