Shanghai (ZXZC)- On September 24, the 21st China-ASEAN EXPO ("CAEXPO") opened in Nanning city, Jiangxi province, where SAIC-GM-Wuling ("SGMW") officially launched its "One Two Three Go" ASEAN Strategy, targeting the ASEAN market as a key area for global expansion in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector.

According to SGMW, the "One Two Three Go" ASEAN Strategy aims to establish a comprehensive NEV industrial chain in ASEAN countries by 2030, encompassing vehicle production, sales, services, financing, energy systems, electronics, and intelligent electric drives. SGMW plans to pioneer this full-scope industrial expansion across all ten ASEAN member states. To ensure successful implementation, SGMW will focus on both product and industrial innovation, adopting a "trinity" operational model led by its headquarters, with manufacturing in Indonesia and ASEAN-wide collaboration. Additionally, SGMW aims to integrate China-ASEAN NEV supply chains through a "Cross-sea Synergy" system, fostering sustainable growth in branding, product ecosystems, and user experience for ASEAN customers.
Zhou Xing, SGMW's General Manager of Brand and Communications, stated, "Under the ASEAN Strategy, we will bridge the Chinese and ASEAN markets, achieving regional integrated operations. Through cross-border supply chain initiatives, SGMW will support the development of the ASEAN NEV industry and strive to reach a NEV industry chain milestone worth over 10 billion yuan by 2030."

In the meantime, SGMW debuted its global NEV concept car, the "Light of ASEAN," at the CAEXPO. The concept car showcases the company's cutting-edge technologies, including ultra-low drag design, a zero-gravity floating cabin, and intelligent robot assistants, embodying SGMW's forward-looking vision of smart mobility. The concept model symbolizes SGMW’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the NEV sector while serving as a bridge between China and ASEAN in advancing the region's NEV industry.
As one of the first Chinese automakers to expand internationally, SGMW has been deepening its global market presence since 1995. By August 2024, SGMW's cumulative exports reached 1.07 million units/sets, spanning 104 countries and regions, including Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The company's rapid NEV transformation was marked by a significant milestone at the end of August this year when it celebrated the production of its 2 millionth NEV, positioning itself at the forefront of intelligent electric mobility.
Indonesia plays a crucial role in SGMW's global expansion. As the first Chinese automaker to establish local manufacturing facility in Indonesia, SGMW has developed over 70 local suppliers, achieving a high level of localization in component supply. The company's NEV lineup in Indonesia, which includes the Air EV, Binguo EV, and Cloud EV, covers the mainstream passenger vehicle market priced between 200 million and 450 million Indonesian Rupiah (approximately 100,000 yuan to 220,000 yuan), catering to a wide range of consumers in the region.
