Great Wall Motor’s monthly car overseas sales hit new high in Aug. 2024

Shanghai (ZXZC)- In August 2024, Great Wall Motor (“GWM”) sold 94,461 vehicles, representing a year-on-year decrease of 17.21%, according to its latest monthly sales results.

Of the vehicles GWM sold last month, 24,844 units were contributed by the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector. Meanwhile, the company also reported an overseas sales volume of 40,454 units for the month, which indicated a year-on-year jump of 31.6% and also hit a highest-ever level.

For the first eight months of 2024, GWM sold a total of 745,415 vehicles, a slight increase of 0.4% compared to the same period last year. NEV sales reached 181,363 units for the period, up 22.17% over a year earlier, while overseas sales soared by 54.2% year on year to 280,139 units. Additionally, sales of models priced over 200,000 yuan amounted to 184,386 units, reflecting a year-on-year leap of 39.83%.

Breaking down the sales performance by specific brands, Haval brand led the charge with 56,166 units sold in August, bringing its year-to-date total to 408,848 vehicles. On August 25, Haval launched pre-sales for the second-generation Haval H9 model, featuring a rugged, boxy aesthetic and built on the advanced Tank platform. The new H9 is equipped with a proprietary all-terrain system, TOD intelligent four-wheel drive, and Mlock mechanical locking capabilities.

WEY brand recorded cumulative sales of 25,633 units for the Jan.-Aug. period. On August 21, the all-new Blue Mountain model hit the market, featuring the Coffee Pilot Ultra intelligent driving system and Coffee OS 3 smart space system, which significantly enhances in-car computing power.

TANK brand performed well, with 16,350 units sold in August, representing an 11.42% year-on-year increase. Year-to-date sales for TANK reached 151,070 units, a 74.67% year-on-year spike. In August, the TANK brand achieved the milestone of 500,000-unit cumulative vehicle sales, and offered the global debut of the TANK 400 gasoline version.

In addition, the NEV-dedicated ORA brand sold 5,151 vehicles in August, with year-to-date sales totaling 41,680 vehicles. Great Wall Pick-up logged August sales of 13,718 units, bringing the year-to-date figure to 117,662 units.
