In a recent announcement from GAC, the Trumpchi GS8 five-seat luxury version will hit the market on May 28th, with a potential price decrease compared to the current six-seat and seven-seat versions. The 2024 Trumpchi GS8 lineup now includes the Navigator two-wheel-drive/four-wheel-drive luxury intelligent version and the Dual Hybrid two-wheel-drive/four-wheel-drive premium version, with a price range of 186,800 (26,000 USD) to 246,800 yuan (34,200 USD). The first GS8 was introduced in 2016 and the last update was in 2021.

Based on the official interior images, the five-seat version will have an impressive cargo space of 1120 mm wide and 2120 mm deep, featuring a recessed design. Additionally, the second-row headroom is 960 mm, and the legroom is 930 mm.

Regarding the exterior, the 2024 Trumpchi GS8 features a more exaggerated design for the front grille while retaining the dragon scale wing and exhibition wing dual-styled front fascia. The side profile showcases a muscular design with a sharp beltline, complemented by black cladding on the side skirts and wheel arches, providing a touch of crossover appeal. The floating-roof effect, achieved through the blacked-out B-C-D pillars, adds a more stylish element to the overall appearance.

The rear features a vertically-styled taillight assembly with a geometric layout, providing high visibility. In terms of dimensions, the new model is expected to maintain the same overall length, width, and height as the current version (5015/1950/1780 mm), with a wheelbase of 2920 mm.

The interior features a classic three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, accompanied by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch center touchscreen. Additionally, the 2024 Trumpchi GS8 Dual Hybrid six-seat version will offer an “Executive Luxury” seating package, including massage functions for the driver and front passenger seats, heated second-row seats, four-way lumbar support for the driver and front passenger, and a front passenger “boss button.”

In terms of features, the new Trumpchi GS8 will come standard with blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, door opening warning, rear cross-traffic braking assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and emergency lane-keeping assist, complementing the existing 360-degree surround-view camera system for enhanced driving convenience. The 2024 Trumpchi GS8 Navigator series four-wheel-drive system has also been upgraded to the sixth-generation Borg-Warner torque management system, providing greater torque handling, faster response, and reduced overall weight.

Regarding the powertrain, the new model is expected to carry over the current engine options, including both pure gasoline and hybrid variants. The gasoline version will be powered by a 2.0T GDI turbocharged engine, producing a maximum power of 252 horsepower and 400 Nm of peak torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an optional four-wheel-drive system. The hybrid version will feature the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) with a 2.0T turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor, delivering a combined maximum power of 372 horsepower, paired with an E-CVT transmission.
