Shanghai (ZXZC)- Recently, Hunan Shengrong Technology Co., Ltd. ("Shengrong Technology") successfully closed an angel investment round with tens of millions of yuan raised, according to a post on the WeChat account of Cowin Capital, who served as the exclusive investor of the round.

This pivotal investment is set to bolster the company's team development, expedite the innovation and large-scale production of cutting-edge lithium battery replenishment materials, and solidify the groundwork for mass manufacturing the next generation of long-cycle lithium-ion and solid-state batteries.

In an era marked by the rapid expansion of the lithium battery sector, fueled by the surge in new energy vehicles and consumer electronics, the industry is grappling with technological bottlenecks. These challenges, particularly in electrode materials such as ternary cathode and lithium iron phosphate, are a result of the swift progress in lithium battery material and structural technologies. Against this backdrop, pioneering high-safety, cost-efficient lithium replenishment technologies that enhance the energy density and longevity of lithium-ion batteries becomes paramount for the sector's advancement.

Lithium replenishment materials, which pre-lithiate electrode materials, are instrumental in reducing irreversible capacity loss, significantly boosting the energy density, and doubling the lifecycle of lithium batteries. With numerous industry giants venturing into lithium replenishment materials, these innovations are anticipated to become the norm in long-cycle energy storage battery applications in the near future.

Established in 2023, Shengrong Technology dedicates its efforts to the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of cathode lithium replenishment materials. The field presents considerable entry barriers, necessitating extended periods of process experimentation from pilot to industrial-scale production. The manufacturing process, akin to that of high-nickel ternary materials, requires meticulous control over material exposure to air to prevent issues such as high residual alkali, large particle sizes, and reduced specific surface areas. These challenges are critical as they impede the mobility of lithium ions within the materials, significantly complicating the path to industrialization.

From its inception, Shengrong Technology swiftly set up its team and a tonne-scale laboratory within a mere three months. Having already conducted multiple sample production and testing cycles, the company is on track to launch a production line capable of yielding thousands of tonnes of materials annually by the latter half of 2024.
