The new cooperation came after three Chinese state-owned automakers officially launched the T3 mobility service platform in July, 2019. Under the latest deal, the VTC JV would be dedicated to building a countrywide open service platform for automotive logistics network by integrating resources from the T3 platform, said Dongfeng Motor.

Besides, taking the smart urban distribution as the foothold, the new joint venture would endeavor to develop innovative offline retail storage models and a transport capacity matching platform.

Three parties also reached a consensus on how to strengthen the strategic synergy between OEMs and logistics companies on the T3 platform, and improve the operational efficiency and service quality of the logistics supply chain.

Three parties have been promoting their joint deployment in logistics network since a conference held in Changchun in November last year. By weaving a cooperative system connecting transport channels of rivers, seas, highways and railways, they are making joint efforts to improve the efficiency in delivering complete vehicles and auto parts, and are co-exploring logistics technologies.

To be specific, three automakers have co-launched a R&D center to research subjects like automated guided vehicle, storage, transportation and relevant standards.

They also team up on deploying the gateways and hubs for the sea roll-on/roll-off transport in Tianjin, and promoting the construction of a Wuhan-based wharf for the roll-on/roll-off river transport.

In addition, the aforesaid VTC project will make the cooperation extend to capital field in addition to resource integration.
