Nissan China’s sales down 2.1% in Oct.

Shanghai (ZXZC)-Nissan saw its China sales edge down 2.1% year on year (YoY) to 139,064 units (including PVs, light CVs and imported vehicles) in October, according to the Japanese automaker. The monthly sales of the PV unit rose 0.6% over a year ago to 118,729 units, among which 108,026 units were from Dongfeng Nissan and 10,703 units from Dongfeng Venucia. Meanwhile, the light CV segment, including Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. and Zhengzhou Nissan, witnessed an Oct. sales slide of 15.7% to 16,523 units.

For the first ten months, the Japanese automaker's sales in China totaled 1,230,047 units, down by 0.6% from the previous year. Its PV unit made a major contribution to the overall performance with the sales aggregating 1,023,922 units. To be specific, Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Venucia saw their Jan-Oct sales reach 926,225 units and 97,697 units respectively. The cumulative sales of the light CV units amounted to 174,573 units from Jan. to Oct., growing 3.0% over the previous year. Of that, the sales of the main contributor Dongfeng Automobile jumped 8.4% to 130,927 units and Zhengzhou Nissan sold 43,646 units in this period.

As to the performance of models, the Sylphy sedan, with 42,568 units sold (+6.3% YoY) and the Qashqai, boasting a sales of 18,406 units (+9.3% YoY), were the biggest sales drivers for the automaker in October. The monthly sales of the TIIDA soared 31.0% from the year-ago period to 7,645 units.
