First China-made Kia EV5 all-electric SUV rolls off assembly line
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On November 28, Kia China's Chief Operating Officer, Yang Honghai, shared on his Weibo account that the first China-made Kia EV5 smart all-electric SUV rolled off the production line at the manufacturing plant in Yancheng city, Jiangsu province, with the model's global sales commencing at the same time.

The Kia EV5 hit the market earlier this month during the Auto Guangzhou 2023, where it introduced its standard-range version. The official suggested retail prices for the 530Light edition, 530Air edition, and 530Land edition are 149,800 yuan, 159,800 yuan, and 174,800 yuan, respectively. As part of the plan, the long-range version is projected to go on sale in March next year, with the GT-Line edition set for release in July.
The Kia EV5 features dimensions of 4,615/1,875/1,715mm, a wheelbase of 2,750mm, and is equipped with BYD's Blade Battery and a 160kW electric motor, utilizing a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension system.
Regarding the interior, the EV5 is equipped with a 64-color dynamic ambient lighting system and a large panoramic sunroof. Meanwhile, the rear seats offer practical features such as a foldable tray table (exclusive to the right rear seat), a 4-liter central drawer-style refrigerator, a peninsula-style storage compartment at the center console, hidden hooks, and a removable multifunctional hook in the trunk.
In addition, the vehicle comes with 7 airbags, an L2+ advanced driver assistance system, supporting functions like semi-automatic lane change and remote intelligent parking. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) whole-vehicle upgrades, UWB digital key, and is equipped with a new generation in-car entertainment system, and efficient heat pump air conditioning.
The Kia EV5 is crafted on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). The standard-range variant features a 64.2kWh battery pack and a 160kW electric motor, providing a CLTC range of 530 kilometers. The long-range trim boasts an 88.1kWh battery pack, offering an impressive CLTC range of 720 kilometers.
