Recently, a set of patent images of the Geely “SX12” was released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), presenting an extremely similar exterior look to the Concept Icon.
Geely on April 9 registered a new trademark dubbed “Binjie”, according to the record from China's Trademark Office of National Intellectual Property Administration. There were reports saying then the new trademark was likely to be the Chinese name of the BMA-based “SX12”.
From the newest photos, we can see that the badge which was supposed to be “SX12” has been replaced with the lettering “icon”. So, is there likelihood that the yet-to-be-launched SUV model will be named “icon”?
Staying true to the Concept Icon is another reason we raised the speculation. At the front face, the grille no longer features Geely's signature “cosmo” design which is characterized by infinity loops scattered around, while uses square-edged details that shape the grille like the Chinese character “回”, coupled with split-type headlights.
The sides of the SUV feature concise and strong character lines. The model also has a ‘floating’ roof which tapers down to meet a large tailgate-mounted spoiler.
It measures 4,350mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,615mm with a wheelbase that spans 2,640mm, sitting the position of compact SUV.

The rectangular elements are also largely used at the rear end, involving the taillights, the license plate frame in addition to the overall rear shape, as part of efforts to harmonize the entire exterior styling.
The new BMA-based SUV is said to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that pumps out up to 130kW. Trim levels assisted by mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems will possibly be offered after it hits the market.
