Geely Holding sells over 2 million vehicles globally in Jan.-Aug. 2024

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Zhejiang Geely Holding Group ("Geely Holding") announced on Monday that its automobile sales volume reached around 271,926 units in August 2024, growing 14.9% year on year (YoY).

Of the vehicles the group sold last month, 127,133 units were contributed by new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing a YoY surge of 51.7% and accounting for 46.8% of Geely Holding's overall auto sales in the month.

For the first eight months of 2024, Geely Holding recorded a cumulative sales volume of 2,011,392 vehicles, registering a 21.6% rise over a year earlier.

In the Jan.-Aug. period, Geely Holding saw its total NEV sales shoot up 48.5% over a year earlier to 823,654 units. It also reported a year-to-date sales volume of 796,111 vehicles for its overseas markets, which jumped 24.3% from the previous year.

Geely Holding encompasses key automotive entities such as Geely Auto Group, Volvo Cars, PROTON, Lynk & Co, Lotus Cars, Polestar, LEVC (London EV Company), smart, RADAR, and Farizon Auto.

Geely Auto Group, comprising Geely (including Galaxy range), Lynk & Co, and ZEEKR brands, reported a sales volume of 181,229 units for the month of August, witnessing a YoY jump of over 21%. In the month, its NEV sales amounted to 75,484 units, surging 65% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, its monthly export volume soared 98% from a year earlier to 45,045 vehicles.

As for the year-to-date performance, Geely Auto Group sold a total of 1,287,741 vehicles, marking a 34% year-on-year leap.

Volvo Cars reported a steady YoY increase of 3% in its global sales for August 2024, with 52,944 vehicles sold. A significant portion of this growth came from the NEV sales, which amounted to 25,028 units, marking an impressive 47% spike compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the company recorded a sales volume of 12,185 vehicles for its China market in the month.

From January to August 2024, Volvo Cars' global sales totaled 498,464 vehicles, demonstrating a solid 11% growth compared to the year-ago period.

Moreover, PROTON logged a sales volume of 12,690 vehicles last month, resulting in a year-to-date volume of 101,489 units.
