GAC Group announces sweeping personnel changes to improve self-owned brand
Shanghai (ZXZC)-GAC Group announced on July 31 a series of personnel changes in a bid to strengthen the group's internal integration of research, production and market, improve the communication efficiency and enhance the cooperative work among all business sectors.
According to the company's announcement, Feng Xingya, chairman of GAC Motor (the PV subsidiary wholly owned by GAC Group) was named chairman of GAC New Energy Automobile Co.,Ltd (GAC NE), while Zhang Yuesai, chairman of GAC Business, would replace Feng, serving as general manager of GAC Motor.
Besides, Yu Jun has become head of GAC Group's international business arm and is no longer the chairman of GAC NE and president of GAC Motor. Liu Wei and Hu Su would additionally head the complete vehicle business and data information branches respectively.
All aforesaid personnel changes became effective on August 1, 2019.
GAC Motor sold a total of 186,947 vehicles during the first half of 2019, a year-on-year slump of 30.3%, according to GAC Group's sales report. Meanwhile, none of the models owned by the PV manufacturer got a monthly sales volume exceeding 10,000 units for the first six months, said the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Jan.-Jun. sales of the mainstay model, the Trumpchi GS4, amounted to only 55,909 units, tumbling 55.4% over the previous year.
Zhang Yuesai, who had held positions in a number of complete vehicle enterprises such as GAC Honda, GAC Toyota, GAC Motor and GAC Mitsubishi, will adequately exercise its rich experience and expertise in complete vehicle marketing and commercial trade areas at the post of GAC Motor's president, said GAC Group.
Moreover, the group also expects Yu Jun, who led the foundation of GAC Motor International Co.,Ltd, to help propel GAC's global strategy with his outstanding ability in market development.
