Zhejiang Geely Holding Group scores 26% YoY jump in Sept. 2023 auto sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Zhejiang Geely Holding Group ("Geely Holding") today announced on its official WeChat account that its monthly auto sales reached roughly 264,400 units in September, marking a 26% year-on-year jump. The group also reported a sales volume of 93,700 new energy vehicles (NEVs, including battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) for the same month, representing a 38% year-on-year leap and a penetration rate of 35%.

To be specific, in September, Geely Auto Group, which includes Geely, Lynk & Co, ZEEKR brands, and Livan Auto, achieved record-breaking sales of 170,472 vehicles, exhibiting a remarkable 31% year-on-year growth and a noteworthy 12% month-on-month increase. This performance marks the eighth consecutive month for Geely Auto Group to achieve both double-digit year-on-year and month-on-month growth.

According to the sales data issued by Geely Automobile Holdings Limited earlier this month, the Geely brand itself recorded 133,043 units sold in September, a 13% month-on-month increase and a year-on-year growth exceeding 31%. Notably, the Galaxy NEV range recorded sales of 13,080 units last month, with the Galaxy L7 PHEV model consistently surpassing the ten-thousand-unit sales mark for the third consecutive month.

With 12,053 deliveries in September, the ZEEKR brand, which focuses on the premium electric vehicle sector, registered an impressive year-on-year surge of around 45.6%. For the third quarter of this year, ZEEKR's total deliveries reached 36,395 units.

Buoyed by the ZEEKR brand and the Galaxy series, Geely Auto Group's NEV arm sold a total of 53,692 units in September, representing an approximate 14% month-on-month increase and a substantial year-on-year jump of about 37%. In this sector, the sales of battery electric vehicles reached 32,961 units, up 9% from a year earlier, while the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle unit registered a 132% year-on-year soar with 20,731 vehicles sold.

The Lynk & Co brand recorded sales of 21,859 vehicles last month, showcasing a year-on-year growth of over 35% and a month-on-month increase of around 17%. Impressively, the brand has now achieved eight consecutive months of month-on-month growth by September this year.

Turning to Volvo Cars, its global sales in September reached 61,666 units, reflecting a notable 25% year-on-year growth. It's worth highlighting that 34% of these sales were attributed to the RECHARGE NEV models.

Polestar, another noteworthy name in the Geely portfolio, reported global deliveries of approximately 13,900 vehicles in the third quarter, signifying a 50% surge from the previous year. Over the first nine months of the year, Polestar achieved global deliveries of around 41,700 units, with a year-on-year jump of 37%.

Proton Cars continued its strong market leadership in Malaysia, with sales of 116,832 vehicles in the first three quarters.
