Tesla to hold job fair for Shanghai Gigafactory on May 29
Shanghai (ZXZC)- The U.S.-based EV startup Tesla is ready to hold a job fair on May 29 to recruit staff for its Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, according to an official WeChat account Tesla especially created for recruitment.
The job fair is scheduled to recruit employees for stamping, welding, painting and assembly workshops as well as facility maintenance and logistics departments, involving a total of 24 posts.
Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai is planned to complete the construction of stamping, bodywork, painting and assembly workshops in September 2019, according to an official document released by local ecology and environment authority. Besides, the seat production area, the powertrain workshop and the electric motor workshop are likely to be finished in March next year.
If the construction proceeds as the plan goes, it would be an astonishing speed for the industry since Tesla broke ground at the factory just in early January this year.
By the end of April, the program has finished the pile foundation construction and started building the steelworks, which are set to be finished by May. At the end of the year, part of assembly lines will be put into mass production.
“Learning from our experience, we can now build a second-generation Model 3 line in China that we expect will be at least 50% cheaper per unit of capacity than our Model 3-related lines in Fremont and at Gigafactory 1,” the startup said in its Q1 2019 letter.
Telsa CEO Elon Musk disclosed at the latest investor conference call that Shanghai Gigafactory is likely to reach volume production at the end of 2019 at 1,000 to 2,000 cars per week.
