Shanghai (ZXZC)- Lynk & Co, a premium car brand jointly built by Geely and Volvo Cars, is going to unveil an all-new coupe SUV—the Lynk & Co 05—in Bilbao, a city in northern Spain, at the end of June, said the automaker. Besides, the Lynk & Co 03+ will hit the market at the same time.

The patent images exposed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) show that the new model’s front face still retains Lynk & Co family’s iconic design language. Above a grille which is seamlessly flanked by headlights, there are Lynk & Co’s signature daytime running lights. Large-sized air-breathers are next to the bumper.

At the rear end, taillights are embedded with a cluster of horizontally-installed LED lamps rather than vertically-installed crystal lamps for other models. A silver trim stretches across a black panel and taillights. The Lynk &Co 05 packs an exhaust layout with a single pipe on each side.

Based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform jointly developed by Volvo and Geely, the Lynk & Co 05 could be regarded as the coupe version of the Lynk & Co 01 SUV. The new model measures 4,592mm long, 1,879mm wide and 1,628mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 2,734mm.

Powering the new car will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine or a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The 1.5T engine can pump out 132kW and 265N·m and the 2.0T engine will generate 175kW/350 N·m or 140kW/300 N·m.

The automaker is ready to debut the Lynk & Co03+ at the 2019 IAS (Innovative Auto Show) kicking off on June 1.

As an entry-level model of the Lynk & Co 03 Series, the 03+ is expected to be priced at around RMB250,000. It is said to be powered by Volvo’s 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine code-named JLH-4G20TDC that is able to pump out 254hp, mated with Aisin’s 8-speed automatic manual transmission and the four-wheel-drive system offered by BorgWarner. The 0-100km/h sprint can be done within only 5.9 seconds.

The Lynk & Co 03+ adopts split-type headlights and Lynk & Co family’s signature grille adorned with metal trims. Air deflectors flanking the front bumper are designed to guide the turbulence around front wheels.

By virtue of the improved aerodynamic devices, the downforce at the top speed are increased to 40kg from 11kg, while the drag coefficient remains unchanged. The greater sports essence is highlighted by the upgraded grille, wheel hub, side skirt, rear diffuser baffle, spoiler as well as the exhaust layout with dual stacks of pipes on each side.
