Denza said the Z9GT received more than 5,000 firm orders in its first 36 hours on the market, with the 2010 units of limited-edition cars already sold out.

Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), shared the number of orders for the Z9GT to demonstrate the initial acceptance of the new model.

The Denza Z9GT received more than 5,000 firm orders in its first 36 hours of availability, the brand announced today on Weibo.

The first 10,000 customers to order the model will be rewarded with additional Denza points worth RMB 520, Denza said.

Deposits for firm orders are non-refundable, unlike refundable pre-sale orders.

Denza launched the Z9GT on September 20, the first model in its Z series, which will be sedans, with GT standing for Grand Tourer. Deliveries of the model began on the day of its launch.

Denza is offering three plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants and two battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants for the model, with a starting price range of RMB 334,800 ($47,480) to RMB 414,800.

The company is also offering two PHEV First Edition variants of the Z9GT limited to 2010 units, with starting prices of RMB 364,800 and RMB 414,800 respectively.

Yesterday, Denza announced that the 2010 units of the limited edition Z9GT have been sold out. The limited-edition model commemorates Denza's founding in 2010.

The Z9GT comes standard with BYD's e3 technology, which can be seen as a scaled-down version of the NEV maker's e⁴ technology for ultra-luxury cars.

The technology gives the Z9GT rear-wheel steering capability and a 3.4-second acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour.

The joint venture between BYD and Daimler was established in July 2010, with each holding a 50 percent stake at the time, and was followed by the launch of the Denza brand. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz.

BYD increased its stake in Denza to 90 percent in 2022, and increased its stake in the company to 100 percent earlier this month.
