BYD launches standard-range Dolphin BEV in Thailand

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On Mar. 21, BYD introduced the Dolphin battery electric vehicle (BEV) model’s standard range version to consumers in Thailand, according to a post on BYD’s WeChat.

The move took place at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show, which focuses on promoting new energy vehicles (NEVs) and raising environmental awareness among Thai residents.

Aside from the said the BYD Dolphin, the Chinese NEV manufacturer also displayed seven other NEV models at the show, namely, the Tang EV, Han EV, BYD Seal, Frigate 07, Denza D9, BYD ATTO 3 and Song PLUS DM-i. The lineup on display covers sedan, SUV, and MPV models focusing on both BEVs and the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

Built on the e-Platform 3.0, the BYD Dolphin features an NEDC range of 410 km and an overall design embodying BYD's ocean aesthetics. It is the second model BYD launched in the Thai market, following the BYD ATTO 3.

"Thailand is the global debut market for the right-hand drive BYD Dolphin. All orders of the model placed by Apr. 30 are set to reach Thai shores by Jul. 1,” said Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division.

As of Mar. 20 this year, BYD had delivered 11,539 ATTO 3s in Thailand.

On Mar. 10, BYD celebrated the groundbreaking for its passenger vehicle production plant in Thailand, which is the company’s first overseas PV manufacturing base.
