Shanghai (ZXZC)- On March 25, Bosch and the Management Committee of Wuxi National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to further promote the localization and commercialization of Bosch's hydrogen fuel cells and electrification products dedicated to commercial vehicles (CVs), according to a post on Bosch’s WeChat account.

In recent years, the demands for climate-neutral technology in the automotive market have increased significantly. To support sustainable development and carbon-neutral transportation, Bosch provides diversified powertrain solutions. Bosch predicts that by 2035, half of the new CVs will be electric vehicles powered by batteries or hydrogen.

"Electrification of powertrain systems will become the main growth point of Bosch's business in the next decade. Therefore, Bosch is accelerating the development of hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen energy, and electric mobility technologies," said Dr. Stefan Hartung, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH.

Bosch said its first hydrogen fuel cell center in China was put into use in Wuxi in early 2021. As of now, the center has achieved localized R&D, production, and customer delivery of core components including hydrogen fuel cell stacks, electronic air compressors, hydrogen spray valve components, and hydrogen circulating pumps.

In order to further serve the Chinese market and respond more quickly to local customer needs, Bosch's first high-production-volume membrane electrode production line was put into operation in Wuxi earlier this year. In addition, the construction of its bipolar plate production line is also underway and is expected to start production in 2025.
