Chery teams up with JD.com for one-stop car shopping service
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chery Automobile and JD AUTO, a car transaction platform owned by Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com, have recently built a strategic partnership to jointly explore vehicle new retail modes with finance, car source and big data as gateways, providing consumers from so-called “third-tier” to “sixth-tier” cities in China with more convenient and intelligent car-buying experience.
Currently, it is still difficult for automakers to popularize 4S shops in China's third-to-sixth-tier cities. Under the partnership, both companies will make joint efforts to improve the car marketing efficiency for the targeted cities by integrating online platforms and offline sales networks to effectively connect carmakers, car dealers as well as consumers.
By teaming up with JD AUTO, Chery can expand its sales networks and channels that cover consumer more comprehensively and more accurately. Meanwhile, it will offer a more normalized and convenient car-purchasing platform to significantly save time and energy for users when they want more information before getting a car.
JD AUTO aims to build a normalized one-stop car transaction platform as a strong supplement for 4S Shop business mode. It will make full use of its advantages in platform, energizing sales dealers in such aspects as brand promotion, car source, capital, big data, marketing tactic and IT system.
Chery got a favorable start in 2019 with its January car sales jumping 23.3% year on year to 61,815 units. Of that, its export volume grew 17.3% from a year ago to 11,751 units and the new energy vehicle sales splendidly leapt 177.3% to 3,996 units.
