Midea-backed Welling starts production at NEV parts manufacturing base in Anqing city
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Welling Auto Parts ("Welling"), the new energy vehicle (NEV) auto parts supplier owned by Chinese major appliance giant Midea Group, saw the first phase of its new strategic manufacturing base in Anqing city, Anhui province start operation on Jan. 6, 2023, according to a post on Midea Group's WeChat account.
The new production base eyes an annual production capacity of 1 million electric compressors, 1.2 million EPS (electric power steering) motors, and 200,000 drive motors. It is expected to help Welling increase the production capacity of NEV-related core parts, so as to enable a more stable product delivery.

With an automation rate of up to 93%, the "flexible" production lines at the Anqing base support swift shift between products in different types, said the company. Besides, using quick response codes, the technical parameters generated in the assembly process can be traced accurately.
The first electric compressor rolling off the assembly line at the Anqing factory features the traits of "high rotational speed, low noise, and low power consumption", the company added. It will be supplied to such mainstream electric vehicle makers in China as Li Auto, XPeng, and NIO.
Aside from the newly-opened Anqing base, Welling has also set up R&D centers and cooperation organizations in Shanghai, Hefei of Anhui province, Shunde of Guangdong province, Osaka in Japan, as well as the University of Sheffield.
Focusing on three major segments related to NEVs, namely, thermal management, electric drive, and chassis execution systems, Welling has built five production lineups focusing on electric compressors, drive motors, EPS motors, electric fuel pumps, as well as electric water pumps, respectively.
