The last move came after BYD announced its foray into Japan's passenger vehicle ("PV") market on July 21 last year.

According to the plan BYD revealed at the ceremony in last July, the ATTO 3 would be put onto the Japanese market first in January 2023, while sales of the Dolphin and the Seal would begin in mid- and the second half of this year, respectively.

Currently, consumers in Japan can be apprised of BYD vehicle’s information, and book test drives and rides in 20 shops in the country.

BYD plans to deploy 100 sales and service stores in Japan as of 2025.

In January 2023, BYD sold 150,164 new energy passenger vehicles (NEPV), representing a 61.6% surge from the previous year. Of the NEPVs sold last month, 10,409 units were exported to overseas markets, reflecting a year-on-year surge of 57.8%.
