China’s power battery installed capacity soars 64.5% YoY in Nov. 2022
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In Nov. 2022, China's power battery output reached 63.4GWh, soaring 124.6% year on year, while also edging up 0.9% month on month, according to the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).
Of the power batteries produced last month, 24.2GWh and 39.1GWh were ternary-lithium batteries and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, up 133% and 119.7% from the year-ago period, respectively.
For the first eleven months of 2022, there were a total of 489.2GWh power batteries produced in China, representing a 160.1% year-on-year spike. The year-to-date output of ternary-lithium batteries and LFP batteries reached 190GWh (+130.6% YoY) and 298.5GWh (+183.4% YoY), respectively.

Data by the CAPBIIA show that the country's power battery installed capacity amounted to 34.3GWh in Nov., zooming up 64.5% from the previous year, while also rising 12.2% from the previous month.
To be specific, the installed capacity of ternary-lithium batteries and LFP batteries reached 11GWh and 23.1GWh last month, jumping 19.5% and 99.5%, respectively, compared to the year-ago period.
China's cumulative power battery installed capacity in the Jan.-Nov. period shot up 101.5% year over year to 258.5GWh. Notably, the year-to-date capacity of LFP batteries rocketed 145.5% over the previous year to 159.1GWh.
Moreover, there were 22.6GWh made-in-China power batteries exported to overseas markets in Nov., 16.8GWh of which were LFP batteries.
Regarding the Nov. power battery installed capacity, CATL, FinDreams Battery (the EV battery unit of BYD), CALB, and Gotion High-Tech were still the top 4 among China's EV battery players, accounting for 86.28% of the country's total capacity. Compared to the previous month, Sunwoda moved up one spot to the fifth, while EVE Energy dropped one place to the sixth.
With regard to Jan.-Nov. power battery installed capacity, the top 10 battery makers made up 94.68% of the country's total volume. Of them, CATL, FinDreams Battery, CALB, and Gotion High-Tech still topped others by holding a combined market share of 82.51%.
