Shanghai (ZXZC)- According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), China’s passenger vehicle (PV) retail sales reached 2,019,933 units in November, edging up 3.4% over the previous month, while falling 18% year on year (YoY), 4.8 percentage points higher than that of the previous month. The car, MPV and SUV segment all faced YoY decline in both Nov. sales and year-to-date (YTD) sales. Compared with the retail sales a month earlier, only the SUV segment came across a tiny YoY decrease of 0.5%.

Last month, the PV wholesale volume for China (including the vehicle sold in China and abroad) amounted to 2,141,044 units, sliding 5.9% over a month ago, yet obviously dropping 16.3% over a year ago. The Nov. sales of the car, MPV and SUV were all less than that of a year ago.

By the end of November, China's PV wholesale volume has cumulated to 21,077,358 units in 2018 with a YoY reduction of 2.5%. The negative performance was reflected in the YTD sales of car, MPV and SUV segment.

The top 3 PV makers by Nov. wholesale volume were still SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and FAW-Volkswagen. SAIC Volkswagen took the championship by 17,738 units more than the runner-up SAIC-GM. Geely and Dongfeng Nissan ranked fourth and fifth with their rankings remaining same as the previous month. Although Geely achieved a slight YoY growth of 0.3% in November, four sales-driver models—the Emgrand, the Boyue, the Emgrand GS and the Vision SUV saw their Nov. sales decline over 20% from the year-ago period.

Great Wall Motor surpassed SAIC-GM-Wuling compared with the former month, ranking sixth in November. GAC Honda, Dongfeng Honda and FAW Toyota occupied the eighth to tenth places with respective Nov. sales sitting between 70,000 units to 80,000 units.

Changan Automobile, ranking eighth in October, failed to enter the top 10 list in November.
