Car and City: Wuling Hongguang MINIEV’s registrations grow 5.22% YoY in August
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In Aug. 2022, the registrations of the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, a mini all-electric car model of SAIC-GM-Wuling (“SGMW”), stood at 34,530 units, rising 5.22% year on year, while edging down 6.83% month on month, according to the data compiled by ZXZC Auto Research Institute (GARI).
Regarding the Aug. 2022 registration volume, the Hongguang MINIEV was still crowned the best-selling China-made new energy vehicle (NEV) model.
For the first eight months of 2022, there were a total of 267,987 Hongguang MINIEVs registered across the Chinese mainland, representing a 21.68% year-on-year jump.
By the end of Aug. 2022, the cumulative registrations of the Hongguang MINIEV added up to 774,058 units.
Regarding regional registrations, Wuhan was the only city in China with over 800 Hongguang MINIEVs registered last month. Liuzhou moved up two spots from the previous month to the runner-up place.
For the first eight months of this year, Liuzhou still topped other cities with 6,593 Hongguang MINIEVs registered. Among the top 10 cities by year-to-date registrations of the model, there were six provincial capital cities, namely Wuhan (2nd), Nanning (3rd), Chengdu (4th), Hangzhou (5th), Zhengzhou (6th), and Shijiazhuang (9th).

The hotter-selling EV model will see its lineup enriched with a convertible version hitting the market on Sept. 25. Some local media channels disclosed that the new product is likely to come with two trim levels, with a price range of 87,800 yuan to 102,800 yuan ($12,520-$14,660).
