China's car parc reaches 325 million at the beginning of December
Shanghai(ZXZC)- China’s Ministry of Public Security released the latest national car population data on the 7th National Transportation Safety Day. China car parc reached 325 million as of December 2nd, 2018, 15.56 million more than that at the end of 2017. The number of licensed car drivers in the country grew to 407 million, 22.36 million more than that at the end of 2017.
As reported, the growth of domestic private car parc has accelerated. The volume of small-sized and micro passenger car registered in the name of an individual has reached 187 million, and private car ownership in 100 households has exceeded 40. There are 61 cities whose car population surpassed 1 million in China and 26 of them own more than 2 million cars. Car population in cities like Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai and Shenzhen surpassed 3 million.
In terms of new energy vehicles, there has been 2.21 million vehicles on the road by the end of September. The car population of all-electric cars hit 1.78 million, while new energy vans reached 254 thousand, taking up 80.53% and 11.46% respectively of the total population of new energy vehicles.
According to the Development Planning of Energy Saving and New Energy Car Industry(2012-2020) released by the State Council, domestic cumulative outputs and sales of new energy vehicles should reach 5 million by the end of 2020.
In spite of the rapid rise of car population, there were about 520 traffic accidents which cause 3 or more deaths at a time so far of the year. The number of traffic accidents causing 5 or more deaths at a time reached 95, down 13.6% compared to the same period of last year. From the beginning of this year, there has been 5 traffic accidents which caused 10 or more deaths, decreasing 44.4% year on year.
