Lexus gains YoY sales growth in China for 5 straight months

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Lexus reported a year-on-year (YoY) sales jump of 24% with 148,976 vehicles delivered in China from January to November, which has already outnumbered the 132,864 units of aggregated sales last year.

As to the sales performance in November, the Japanese premium car brand saw its China sales substantially climb 28.6% over a year ago to 16,587 units, achieving positive YoY growth for 5 straight months. The monthly sales of hybrid models reached 4,673 units, accounting for 29% of the brand's total sales in this country.

Lexus possesses such car series as the CT, IS, GS, ES and LS and has deployed a number of SUV models including the NX, RX and LX. The popularity of the ES, NX and RX contributes significantly to the automaker's sound sales performance.

The UX, Lexus's all-new compact SUV, made its Asian debut at Chengdu Motor Show 2018 kicking off on August 31, which is expected to be imported in China next year. The UX retains the design language used in the previous concept model. Arrowhead-shaped clearance lamps situated closely above the headlights, which carries three LED bulbs, render an aggressive front face. The signature Lexus spindle intake grille with a block-style mesh delivers variable shapes based on different viewing angles.

The Lexus UX 200 is powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection inline 4-cylinder engine that allows a brisk acceleration, while the UX260h is driven by a hybrid system that is comprised of a 2.0-liter engine and electric motors and is available with a four-wheel drive system. Meanwhile, the F Sport version will be offered to attract more young consumers.
