GAC AION logs 134% YoY spike in Jan.-Aug. 2022 sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC AION, the new energy vehicle (NEV) arm of GAC Group, sold 27,021 new vehicles in August 2022, representing a 133% year-on-year surge and also achieving the highest-ever level on a monthly basis, the carmaker announced on Thursday via its WeChat account.

For the first eight months of 2022, the company saw its new vehicle sales soar 134% from a year earlier to 152,305 units.

In the 14 months ended August 2022, GAC AION's monthly sales exceeded 10,000 units for 13 months in total, and only dropped to 8,526 units in February this year due to factors like the Chinese New Year holiday. Notably, the company consecutively recorded monthly sales of over 20,000 units between May and August.

GAC AION has an abundant all-electric vehicle lineup with such models as the AION Y, the AION S Plus, the AION S, the AION V Plus, and the AION LX Plus currently for sale. Of them, the AION LX Plus hit the market in January this year, impressing consumers with a CLTC range of over 1,008km and the intelligent driver assistance hardware set composed of 3 LiDAR units and many high-precision sensors.

Notably, the 2023 AION V Plus officially went on sale on August 26 at the Chengdu Motor Show 2022 with a guidance price range of 189,800 yuan to 269,800 yuan ($27,500-$39,080) after subsidies. The new model comes with 10 trim levels, 2 of which feature a seven-seater layout.
