Shanghai (ZXZC)- East China's Anhui province aims to build over 70,000 public charging piles and more than 180 battery swap stations by the end of 2025, according to a document released by Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission on July 4.

To achieve this target, local municipal governments are encouraged to provide subsidies for construction and operation of NEV charging and battery swapping facilities, as part of a package of measures to support Anhui's development of new energy vehicle (“NEV”) and intelligent-connected vehicle (“ICV”) industries.

Of the aforementioned battery swapping stations to be deployed by 2025, over 140 will be located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui province, eyeing a service capacity of offering over 40,000 battery swaps per day.

To boost car sales, local authorities will hold activities to promote the purchase and use of NEVs in rural areas. Eligible cities will be encouraged to grant subsidies to rural residents who scrap vehicles of China Ⅲ and below emission standards, and buy NEVs as a replacement.

To promote NEV use in public service areas, from the year 2022 onwards, buses newly added to urban areas of Hefei and Wuhu cities should be 100% NEVs. The ratio in other cities should be no less than 80%.
