XPeng to unveil more details of G9 SUV in June
Shanghai (ZXZC)- XPeng plans to unveil more details about its fourth production model, the G9, in June this year, the startup said on April 6 via its WeChat account.
In the WeChat posters, the company hinted at the equipment of a smart air suspension and 5D immersive system for the G9. Other details about EEA (electrical/electronic architecture), intelligent driver assistance functions, voice interaction features, infotainment system, sensing system, as well as charging capability will be disclosed then.
Some local media outlets surmised that XPeng would kick off G9's presale at that moment. Nonetheless, the automaker has not confirmed the information yet.
XPeng G9
Unveiled in November 2021 at the Auto Guangzhou, the G9 is XPeng's first model designed for both the Chinese and international markets. It is also the second SUV in XPeng's portfolio, facing off against the likes of Tesla's Model Y, NIO's ES6, and Li Auto's Li ONE.
The G9 will be XPeng's first model armed with XPILOT 4.0, the company's full-scenario advanced driver assistance system, which is slated for rollout in first half of 2023. Besides, XPeng has also directly integrated two LiDAR units into G9's headlights.
The G9 will still ride on XPeng's new X-EEA 3.0 architecture, a proprietary EV platform that consists of a centralised supercomputing platform and local control modules. Thanks to the platform's ability to synchronously upgrade multiple domain controllers, the G9 will be able to receive firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) updates in as quickly as 30 minutes, without interrupting the vehicle operation and driving function.
Earlier local reports said that pre-sale of the G9 would start in April at the Auto China 2022. Nevertheless, the automotive exhibition has been postponed due to the pandemic factor.
