Car and City: October 2021 registrations of NIO models
Shanghai (ZXZC)- For the month of October 2021, the insurance registrations of NIO's all mass-produced models aggregated 3,923 units, sliding 19.6% year on year, while also plummeting 62.4% month on month, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
The automaker attributed the month-over-month plunge to the shrink of production outputs led by the restructuring of the manufacturing lines at its Hefei-based car plant and the volatility in supply chain. The registration reduction made NIO drop to the No.4 on the list of Chinese NEV startups by Oct. registrations.
The monthly registrations of the NIO ES6 nosedived to 2,564 units in Oct. from 5,102 units in September. The hottest-selling NIO-branded model only ranked 32th among China-built NEV model regarding Oct. registrations.
Shanghai and Beijing were the only two Chinese cities posting the ES6 registrations above 200 units last month. Besides, the Oct. insurance volume of this model stood between 100 and 200 units in these six cities—Suzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Ningbo, and Nanjing. The metropolis Guangzhou only had 93 ES6s registered.
The registrations of the EC6 dwindled 70.5% from a month earlier to 1,005 units in October. As of Nov. 2021, the EC6's cumulative registrations amounted to 28,508 units, 23,766 units were registered this year.
In October, Shanghai was the only city with over 100 EC6s registered. Meanwhile, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Beijing all logged the EC6 registrations of 57 units. The model's registrations in Guangzhou were equal to that of Ningbo.
There were only 351 ES8s registered last month, representing a 75.5% slump compared to September.
Except Shanghai and Beijing, the other cities all recorded the ES8 registrations below 30 units in October.
Notably, three ET7s were registered in Shanghai last month.
