SAIC Motor YTD sales top 4 million units by the end of July
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor posted a year-on-year sales growth of 6.4% with 483,726 vehicles delivered in July. Meanwhile, the automaker Jan-to-July sales amounted to 4,003,744 units, climbing 10.3% compared with the same period in previous year.
SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling occupied the first three places among the group's subsidiaries by their July sales. Apart from SAIC-GM and Sunwin Bus whose July sales dropped over a year ago, the other subsidiaries all attained positive year-on-year increase. SAIC-CP saw its sales skyrocket 342.5% and 127.4% from the previous year in terms of its July sales and year-to-date sales, enjoying the biggest sales growth among all subsidiaries. With respect to the cumulative sales, the top 3 companies were SAIC-GM-Wuling, SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC-GM.
SAIC Motor PV witnessed its sales in July jump 29.8% year on year to 48,110 units. Driven by the strong performance of the Roewe RX Series, the MG6 and the Roewe ERX5, the Jan-to-July sales of the SAIC Motor's self-owned subsidiary soared 50.4% from a year earlier to 407,117 units.
As for the major joint ventures, SAIC Volkswagen maintained a strong sales momentum into the second half of 2018, with its national sales up 15.2% year on year to 152,155 units. The all-new Lavida, which went on sale on May 25 , substantially contributed to the automaker's overall blooming sales.
SAIC-GM saw its sales decline 5.3% year on year last month to 135,448 units, while its year-to-date sales grew by 8.2% to 1,093,128. In July, the monthly sales of the Buick GL8 and the Cadillac brand presented a year-on-year jump of 24.3% and 19.1%, with around 14,000 units and 14,300 units delivered respectively. However, the sales of the Excelle plunged 56% from a year ago, which partially caused the company's sales decrease .
SAIC-GM-Wuling delivered 130,219 vehicles in July, basically the same volume as the year-ago period. In addition, the automaker ranked first in terms of year-to-date sales with a total of 1,181,854 units handed over throughout July.
