The prices of NIO models with the new 75 kWh battery and their BaaS subscription remain the same as those with the previous 70 kWh battery.

According to the startup, the newly-launched battery is a hybrid of ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells with the application of the new-generation cell-to-pack (CTP) technology. Powered by NIO’s proprietary technologies, the battery enables a longer range in colder weather and precise state of state of charge (SoC) estimation.

To be specific, thanks to a complete thermal management software and hardware system NIO designed for the hybrid-cell battery, the range loss in low temperature can be reduced by 25% compared to its LFP counterpart.

Integrating innovative software algorithm and hardware application, NIO’s in-house developed hybrid-cell battery SoC estimation system is able to lower the estimation error to less than 3%, which is comparable to that of the ternary lithium battery. The dual chemistry SoC algorithm leverages both ternary lithium and LFP battery systems to achieve constancy and accuracy for battery SoC estimation.

Moreover, the new-generation CTP technology helps simplify manufacturing and assembly by 10%, increase volume utilization by 5%, and raise energy density by 14% to 142 Wh/kg, said the automaker.
