CATARC, Qihoo 360 deal agreement to cement vehicle cybersecurity

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On July 26, China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) and Chinese Internet security company Qihoo 360 struck a strategic agreement to conduct cooperation in vehicle cybersecurity. At the same time, both parties announced the establishment of the CATARC-360 ICV Cybersecurity Joint Lab (joint lab) and the Vehicle Cybersecurity Monitoring Center.

Reportedly, the joint lab focuses on the research of vehicle cybersecurity technologies and the construction of cybersecurity attack and defense system, aiming to become the industrial-leading lab in vehicle cybersecurity test and assessment whether at home or abroad. In addition, the Vehicle Cybersecurity Monitoring Center co-built by both parties is designed to analyze and handle threat intelligence data relating to vehicle cybersecurity from multiple dimensions.

Under the agreement, both signers will help the joint lab identify automobile network anomaly and illegal hacking events by monitoring the domestic vehicle cybersecurity status. To be specific, CATARC provides vehicles, while Qihoo 360 works on automobile data attack and defense.

Furthermore, CATARC and Qihoo 360 will jointly release a vehicle cybersecurity testing report, which draws materials from the production vehicle cybersecurity tests made by the joint lab. Moreover, both parties will co-launch tailored automobile cybersecurity products, which will be utilized to protect vehicle terminals from being hacked, by making use of technical achievements from the joint lab under the current law architecture.
