BYD’s auto sales in Aug. zoom up 86.32% year on year

Shanghai (ZXZC)- BYD Company Limited (BYD) sold 68,531 new vehicles in August, logging an 86.32% year-on-year surge and a 19.37% month-on-month growth, according to the company's latest monthly sales results.

The year-over-year increase was entirely thanks to the 301.81% hike in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, which stood at 61,409 units last month. The NEV sales consisted of 60,508 passenger vehicles (PVs) and 901 commercial vehicles (CVs). Within the new energy PV segment, the sales of all-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles soared 222.73% and 555.63% from a year ago respectively.

Oil-fueled vehicle sales in August reached 7,122 units, tumbling 66.87% from the previous year, while edging up 2.95% compared to July.

Regarding specific models, the sales of the BYD Han flagship model reached 9,035 units last month, resulting in over 110,000 units of cumulative sales since it hit the market.

At the 2021 Chengdu Motor Show, the company rolled out the all-new smart car network system DiLink 4.0 and the 5G-enabled smart music cockpit upgrade service for the BYD Han BEV, to elevate the vehicle's sense of technology and luxury.

The BYD Qin family sold 22,348 new vehicles in August. Notably, the monthly sales volume of the Qin PLUS DM-i reached a new high of 13,043 units, jumping 16.1% over a month earlier.

Besides, the sales of the Tang, Song, and Yuan series stood at 6,240, 17,691, and 4,782 units last month respectively.

As of August 2021, the sales of the BYD BEV-dedicated e series had surpassed 60,000 units, 3,513 of which were sold last month. The BYD Dolphin BEV went on sale at the 2021 Chengdu Motor Show to further drive the sales of the e series.
