BYD Dolphin hatchback patent image leaked
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Patent images of the BYD Dolphin all-electric hatchback were recently released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The vehicle burst into public view at the Auto Shanghai 2021 with a code name of the EA1.
According to a local media channel, the Dolphin will hit the market no earlier than the third quarter of this year and will be sold via BYD's “e” sales network.

Adopting the all-new design philosophy of “ocean aesthetics”, the Dolphin features a pretty sleek car body. The patent images show that the front carries a U-shaped chrome-plated trim surrounding a black plane with BYD's logo at the center, while also connecting the headlights on both sides.

At the rear, the taillight cluster runs across the tailgate where the emblem of a silvery dolphin is located at the lower right corner. The large-sized rear spoiler adds more sports essence to the vehicle.
The Dolphin measures 4,070mm/4,125mm long, 1,770mm wide, and 1,570 tall. Its wheelbase spans 2,700 mm.
According to the MIIT, the hatchback will get power from a lithium iron phosphate battery pack. Driven the vehicle will be a permanent magnet synchronous motor that churns out up to 70kW. In addition, the car can run at a top speed of 150km/h.
