Honda China April sales decline 8.8% YoY
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Honda delivered a total of 101,027 vehicles in April, dropping 8.8% year on year. Both GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda saw year-on-year decrease of 5.6% and 12.2% last month, with 53,142 units and 47,885 units delivered respectively.
For the first four months this year, two joint ventures delivered 401,853 vehicles in total, edging down 4% from a year ago. GAC Honda saw a slight year-on-year growth of 1.1% in year-to-date sales to 225,187 units, while Dongfeng Honda cumulative deliveries shrank by 9.8% over the previous year to 176,666 units.
According to the data, both Honda and Acura under GAC Honda experienced year-on-year decline last month. Honda brand delivered 52,541 units in April, falling 4.4% year on year. The deliveries of the Accord slumped 38.2% over a year ago to 7,760. Even so, the orders of the all-new Accord still exceeded 7,500 units within two weeks since it went on sale in the middle of April. Besides, the April deliveries of the AVANCIER showed a year-on-year jump of 21.8% to 6,263 units. Its year-to-date deliveries also leap 47.2% to 25,483 units so far this year.
With respect to Acura, the deliveries of the MDX, the RDX and the CDX all suffered year-on-year plunge over 50%.
Affected by the engine issue, the deliveries of the CR-V still faced a year-on-year sales plummet of 89.8% in April to 1,683 units from 16,504 units in 2017. The automaker achieved booming performances over the ELYSION and the UR-V, whose deliveries skyrocketed 112.8% and 126.4% year on year respectively. It is worth mentioning that the year-to-date deliveries of the UR-V splendidly increased by 455.2% to 15,745 units from 2,836 units in year-ago period.
