Top 4 Japanese automakers by April China sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Compared with March, the ranking of the top four Japanese automakers by China sales still remained the same in April. Nissan were the sales champion with April sales up to 125,219 in China. Besides, Mazda's China sales rose 7.6% from a year ago in April versus a year-on-year drop of 1% in March.

Nissan

Nissan vehicle sales in China jumped 18.9% in April year on year to 125,219 units (including imported vehicles), according to the data the company released.

Among that, the PV sales of Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Venucia in April reached 103,130 units in total, surging 19.7% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the sales performance of the CV unit (including Dongfeng Automobile Co., and Zhengzhou-Nissan) showed a year-on-year jump of 18.2% to 18,583 units last month.

For the first four months, the China sales volume totaled about 461,350 vehicles for Nissan, up 9.9% compared with year-ago period. The PV sales climbed 10.2% year on year with 386,271 units delivered so far this year, while the CV sales reached 63,257 units, increasing 13.3% from a year ago.

Toyota

Toyota Motor's China sales reached 117,900 units in April, up 9% from the previous year. For the first four months, the Japanese automaker delivered a total of 439,800 units in China with a year-on-year increase of 9% as well.

Corolla took the championship by April sales among all models, leaping 25% year on year to 32,000 units. The April deliveries of the Levin and the RAV4 were 16,400 units and 12,500 units, up 15% and 7% respectively over the previous year. As to sedan models, 10,800 units of the new Camry were delivered last month, soaring 32% from a year earlier.

Honda

In April, Honda delivered a total of 101,027 vehicles in China, dropping 8.8% year on year. Both GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda saw year-on-year decrease of 5.6% and 12.2% last month, with 53,142 units and 47,885 units delivered respectively.

For the first four months this year, two joint ventures delivered 401,853 vehicles in total, edging down 4% from a year ago. GAC Honda saw a slight year-on-year growth of 1.1% in year-to-date sales to 225,187 units, while Dongfeng Honda cumulative deliveries shrank by 9.8% over the previous year to 176,666 units. 

Mazda

Mazda delivered a new high of 102,022 vehicles in the first four months in China, jumping 16.9% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the automaker boasted a year-on-year China sales growth of 7.6% with 24,572 units delivered last month, according to Mazda Motor (China) Co., Ltd.

FAW-Mazda's cumulative sales so far this year climbed 4.5% year on year to 41,449 units, while its monthly sales in April reached 9,808 units, edging up 2.9% over the previous year.

Changan Mazda saw an impressive growth of 27.2% with 60,573 vehicles handed over from January to April. Last month, the automaker delivered 14,764 vehicles, increasing 11.0% compared with the same period of 2017.
