Geely-backed NEV brand Maple unveils first production model Maple 30X
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Maple, a NEV brand backed by Geely Technology Group, unveiled the look of its first production EV model, the Maple 30X, which rolled off the production line on Jan. 13 and is said to be launched in April this year.
The Maple 30X looks quite similar to the Geely Vision X3, while it is driven by an all-electric powertrain. Of course, the grille at the front face must adopt Maple's self-owned LOGO. Below the grille, the C-shaped fog lights flank an air intake which almost spans the entire front, enhancing a sports essence for the car.
According to Maple, the vehicle's styling is the masterpiece of Geely Shanghai Design Center, the global hub of Geely's four-studio design operations. Adopting the two-tone floating sunroof and silvery aluminium alloy luggage rack, the vehicle conveys greater dynamism and stylishness.
The Maple 30X, positioned as a small-sized SUV, measures 4,005mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,575mm tall. Wheelbase spans 2,480mm.
As for the powertrain information, we only know that the new BEV's NEDC-rated range is 306km.
Fengsheng Automotive Technology Group Co., Ltd., the company behind the Maple, is jointly held by Geely Technology Group and Zhejiang Kandi Vehicle Co., Ltd., a Zhejiang-based vehicle maker. Its business scope extends to cover the R&D of electric vehicles and auto parts, car leasing service, the sale of auto parts, and relevant after-sale services.
Besides, Fengsheng is also working on deploying battery swapping business, which is expected to be used in the Maple 30X, according to a local media report.
The Geely-backed NEV brand is scheduled to launch three models in 2020, and roll out more than five new products over the next three years, tapping such sectors as car and SUV, said the local media outlet.
