Mazda China sales jump 20.2% YoY in first quarter
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Mazda Motor (China) Co., Ltd (Mazda China) announced on April 3rd that the company delivered a total of 77,450 vehicles in China in the first quarter of this year, jumping 20.2% year on year, which reached a new high of cumulative sales in China in the first three months.
As to its two major sales channels, both FAW-Mazda and Changan Mazda accomplished year-on-year sales growth during the first quarter of 5.0% and 33.5%, with 31,641 units and 45,809 units delivered respectively.
With regard to the March sales, the Japanese automaker sold 23,406 vehicles in China, edging down 1.0% from a year earlier. Among that, FAW-Mazda faced year-on-year sales decrease of 2.7% to 10,106 units last month, while Changan Mazda handed over 13,300 units with a slight growth of 0.4% over the previous year.
In 2017, Mazda brand boasted a year-on-year increase of 8.3% with 309,407 vehicles delivered in this country, exceeding 300 thousand units for the first time since it entered into China's market. Mazda aims to maintain such impetus in this country and strives to achieve a sales target of 310 thousand units in 2018.
