Geely witnesses YoY sales growth of 39% in both March and Q1

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely sold 120,964 vehicles in March with a YoY sales growth of around 39% and a MoM rise of around 10%, according to the sales report released by Geely on Apr. 6. In addition, its cumulative sales in the first quarter reached 386,296 units, jumping around 39% over the previous year. By the end of the first quarter, Geely has completed 24% of its annual sales target, which totaled 1,580,000 units.

It is noteworthy that Geely exported 1,586 units in March, skyrocketing 194% on an annual basis. Geely delivered 119,378 vehicles (including sales of Lynk & Co brand) in the Chinese market in March, leaping around 38% compared with a year earlier.

As to the sedans, sales of the new Geely Emgrand reached 21,372 units in March, up 19.3% compared with February. However, it saw YoY sales decrease of 4.29%, which is lower than that of the previous month. The cumulative sales of the new Emgrand totaled 65,408 units in the first quarter. 

Another hot model, the all-new Geely Vision saw a YoY increase of 4.95% and MoM slump of 22.31% to 11,628 units in March. Though the new Vision suffered sales MoM drop since February, its sales in the first quarter still reached 46,651 units, rising 16.74% from a year earlier.

Geely's premium midsized model, the Emgrand GL still kept robust growth momentum in March with sales of 12,352 units, surging 51.61% year on year and jumping 22.24% month on month. The cumulative sales of the Emgrand GL in the first quarter surged 42.6% compared with a year before to 37,620 units.

Sales of the new Geely Borui exceeded 3,000 units, down 9.89% over the previous year, while jumping 19.75% compared with February. In the first quarter, delivery of the new Borui reached 8,813 units.

In terms of SUVs, the Boyue, Geely's sales driver, saw YoY and MoM sales growth of 7.13% and 8.31% respectively to 21,919 units in March. In the first quarter, the cumulative sales of the Boyue reached 72,538 units, jumping 19.41% over the previous year.

Moreover, the Emgrand GS also maintained its lead in crossover SUV segment with sales of 12,243 units in March, up 47.59% year on year and 11.22% month on month. In the first quarter, the cumulative sales of the GS reached 43,338 units, shooting up 62.39% compared with the same period last year. It is said that the new Emgrand GS is expected to hit the market in April and likely to have a large sales growth in the future. 

The Vision family's SUV models boasted solid sales growth in March. Among them, sales of the Vision SUV in March and the first quarter reached 10,046 units and 30,301 units respectively. Sales of the Vision X3 reached 10,366 units, up 2.77% month on month. Its cumulative sales in the first quarter totaled 30,910 units. With cumulative sales of the first quarter reaching 24,283 units, the Vision S1 witnessed a MoM sales growth of 15.38% to 7,489 units in March. 

As the first model under Geely's premium brand, the Lnyk & Co 01 preformed remarkably since it hit the market in November, 2017. It broke the sales record to 8,507 units in March, skyrocketing 112.04% month on month. By the end of the first quarter, sales of the Lnky & Co 01 totaled 18,693 units. Noticeably, the Lnyk & Co 02 has made its world premiere in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Mar. 26 and will hit the Chinese market in the middle of 2018.
